Built for electricians, not adapted for them

Every figure below is read from the Electrical rate card, takeoff engine and hazard library inside Sumitt when this page renders. It cannot say more than the product does, and it moves the day the card does.

The Electrical rate card

Size field: Floor area (m²)

42 lines in 8 groups, 9 switched on before you touch anything, 8 with a grade or billing basis to pick.

  • Points & outlets
  • Lighting
  • Switchboard & mains
  • Cable & rough-in
  • Data & appliances
  • Safety & compliance
  • Access & plant
  • Labour
  • Double GPO (supply + install): Standard double, With USB-C, Weatherproof (exterior), Smart / Wi-Fi
  • LED downlight (supply): Standard, Dimmable, Tri-colour (CCT), Fire-rated
  • Switchboard upgrade (supply + install): Board only / partial, Full upgrade + enclosure, Meter box relocation

Australian guide rates factored across 10 regions, every one of them editable. Guidance, not gospel.

The takeoff engine

Say it like this. The engine reads the scope, works out the quantities, prices them off your card and tells you what it assumed. Deterministic arithmetic; no AI touches the numbers.

  • add 6 downlights and 2 double gpos
  • switchboard upgrade with 6 safety switches
  • new build fit out 150 m2

The safety pack

A SWMS drafted from the job you priced, with the electrical hazard set on top of the common site hazards.

  • Switchboard & metering work
  • Isolation & testing
  • Installation & fit-off

Priced lines add their own: Waste disposal & tip runs.

Extra PPE: Insulated gloves rated for the task; Arc-rated clothing for switchboard work.

3 site questions to confirm before sign-off.

You review it against the site, edit it and sign. Sumitt prepares the paperwork; it does not assess your site or make your business compliant. Safety packs are part of Pro, and the free trial includes Pro.

Compliance certificates

Certificate of Electrical Safety (on by default) is on the rate card.A compliance certificate record lives on the job: the certificate, the test results and your state’s lodgement deadline, in every state.

Lodgement stays with you, on your regulator’s portal. Sumitt prepares the record and never lodges it. Not legal advice.

Price books

Import your supplier’s or wholesaler’s price list and quote from real trade prices instead of a guide rate. Every line stays editable on the quote.

Books, exports and the rules

Paid invoices land in Xero as drafts, and quotes, invoices and payments export as CSV. Sumitt warns when a deposit sits over your state’s cap or a total crosses a state licensing line, and never blocks.

The Trade Rate Index shows the benchmark cost of the jobs electricians quote most and the rates that leave a floor, healthy or premium margin, derived from the same rate cards. Not a survey, not advice.

Asked by electricians

Straight answers

Does it know points, circuits and the switchboard?

Yes. The card prices per point: double, single and quad GPOs, switches, light points, downlights by grade, exhausts and fans, then the switchboard by upgrade type, RCBOs, breakers, surge protection, mains, TPS cable by size, data, EV and appliance connections. Every rate is editable.

What about the certificate of electrical safety?

The certificate line is on the card by default, so it is priced on every job. A compliance certificate record with the test results and your state's lodgement deadline lives on the job. You lodge with your regulator through their portal; Sumitt prepares the record and never lodges for you.

Can I import my wholesaler's price list?

Yes. Import your wholesaler's price list and quote from real trade prices instead of a guide rate. Every line stays editable on the quote, and the safety pack still builds from the job you priced.

Does it do SWMS for energised work?

The electrical hazard set covers switchboard and metering work, isolation and testing, and installation and fit-off, with test-for-dead, arc-rated PPE and asbestos-panel controls. The high-risk questions ask about energised parts, ceiling spaces and supply isolation. You review, edit and sign.
