Works with the tools you already use

Sumitt runs the quote-to-cash side of your business. For everything else it connects to what you already use, or hands you a clean export. Here is exactly what each connection does, and what it does not.

Xero

Live

Connect once and your paid invoices land in Xero as drafts for your bookkeeper to approve.

  • Every paid Sumitt invoice goes across as a draft sales invoice: one line at the exact ex-GST subtotal, with the GST Sumitt stored as the tax amount, so the Xero total equals your tax invoice to the cent.
  • GST-registered? The line carries Xero’s GST-on-income tax type. Not registered? It goes across as BAS excluded, with no GST invented.
  • The client goes across as a Xero contact with their name, email, phone and address.
  • Sync runs automatically after each payment, and Sync paid invoices on Reports sends anything outstanding whenever you like.
  • One-way and idempotent: Sumitt writes to Xero and never reads or changes your ledger, and every invoice is linked once, so re-syncing never doubles income.
  • Drafts on purpose. The bookkeeper assigns the account code and approves. Sumitt helps with the data entry; it does not post to your ledger unreviewed.
  • Connect and disconnect from Reports and exports inside the app. Disconnecting revokes Sumitt’s tokens with Xero, and you can also remove Sumitt from Xero’s connected apps at any time.

Not yet: Quotes, payments against the draft, expenses, purchase orders and timesheets do not sync. The bookkeeper pack below covers them.

MYOB and QuickBooks

CSV today, direct sync on the roadmap

No direct connection yet. Today you export a file shaped for the import screen. Direct sync for both is on the roadmap, with no date promised.

  • MYOB: a MYOB-ready sales CSV from Reports and exports, in the column shape MYOB’s sales import expects.
  • QuickBooks: the standard invoices and payments CSVs are plain, labelled columns you map in QuickBooks’ import tool. There is no QuickBooks-shaped file yet.
  • Xero users who would rather import than connect get a Xero-ready invoice CSV in Xero’s import template columns.

Bookkeeper pack

Live

Everything an accountant asks for at BAS time, in files that open in Excel or Sheets.

  • Quotes, invoices and payments as CSV, for a period or all time. The payments file shows the Sumitt platform fee, Stripe’s real fee and what you actually netted on each payment.
  • A clients CSV, the Xero-ready invoice CSV and the MYOB-ready sales CSV.
  • A statement of account per client: every invoice, what is paid, what is owed.
  • A GST summary for the period: sales ex GST, GST collected (label 1A) and total inc GST. It is a cash-basis starting point, so confirm the method with your accountant.
  • Download everything: a zip of every CSV plus a JSON of your quotes with line items, clients, invoices, payments, jobs, variations, claims and safety-document metadata.

Your data, and how to take it with you

Stripe

Live

Card payments from your clients, into your own Stripe account.

  • Deposits on acceptance, balance payments, progress claims and membership plans, all paid by card from the client’s link.
  • Instant Payouts: your Stripe balance to an instant-eligible bank account in minutes, with the real fee shown before you tap.
  • You are the merchant of record. Stripe’s standard processing fees come out of your payout, plus a 1.5% + 30c Sumitt platform fee per payment, always shown before the client pays.
  • Sumitt never sees or stores a card number; Stripe holds them. Refunds and chargebacks run through Stripe and unwind the payment, balance and invoice in Sumitt.
  • Connect from Settings, Payment details. Stripe’s own onboarding asks for your ABN, bank account and ID, not Sumitt.

PayID and bank transfer

Live

Most homeowners pay a deposit by transfer. The quote and the invoice carry your details, and the money is recorded without Stripe in the middle.

  • Your PayID, account name, BSB and account number print on the quote and the tax invoice, with the quote number as the reference.
  • The client taps I’ve transferred it on their link. You get told, check your bank, and tap Mark paid by transfer. The receipt, the tax invoice and the audit trail follow.
  • Progress claims settle by transfer the same way.
  • No Sumitt platform fee on a transfer. The fee applies to card payments only.

Business registers

Live, optional add-on

Public registers, read live or from their published datasets, behind business risk checks.

  • ABN Lookup (the Australian Business Register): resolves the ABN, ACN or business name you check, and returns ABN status, entity type, GST registration, business names and location.
  • ASIC’s company dataset (data.gov.au, refreshed weekly): company status and registration dates, every fact carrying its snapshot date.
  • The QBCC licensed contractors register for Queensland businesses, plus deep links to the NSW, Victorian, WA and SA registers, which Sumitt never scrapes.
  • Your own ABN in Settings gets a checksum tick as you type. That is arithmetic, not a register lookup, and it stops a mistyped ABN reaching a tax invoice.
  • Risk checks are an optional add-on, included in the free trial: a band with every reason sourced and dated. Information to consider, not advice.

How risk checks work

Email and SMS

Live

Everything your client receives comes from your business, not from a platform.

  • Quote links, signed copies, receipts and follow-ups go by email in your business’s name, with reply-to set to you, so replies land in your inbox.
  • Texting a quote opens your phone’s own Messages app with the link filled in. The SMS comes from your number, and no SMS provider ever sees your data.
  • Reminders and overdue notices use your own templates, editable under Settings.

Apple

Live

The iPhone and iPad app, and Sign in with Apple.

  • Sumitt for iPhone and iPad is on the App Store, running the same account as the web, with the camera for site photos and universal links that open a quote straight in the app.
  • Sign in with Apple, on the web and in the app.

Notifications

Email today, push in progress

You hear about every money moment.

  • A quote accepted, a deposit or balance paid, a progress claim paid, a variation approved or declined, a client saying they have transferred, a new membership, a risk-watch alert: each arrives as a branded email to your account address.
  • Push notifications in the iPhone app are being switched on. Until then, email carries every notification.

Quick questions

Asked and answered.

Does it work with Xero?

Yes. Connect Xero from Reports and exports. Paid invoices go across as drafts with the exact totals and GST, and the client as a contact, automatically after each payment or whenever you tap Sync. Disconnect any time.

What about MYOB?

Not directly yet. Export the MYOB-ready sales CSV and import it. Direct sync is on the roadmap.

Do you have an API?

Not yet. A public API and webhooks are on the roadmap. Today, Download everything gives you every record as CSV and JSON.

Can my accountant get in?

There are no team logins yet, so an account has one owner. Hand your accountant the bookkeeper pack from Reports and exports, or connect Xero and they approve the drafts on their side. Team logins are on the roadmap.

Every export lives under Reports and exports inside the app (Tools, Reports). What you can take out, and what Sumitt commits to if it ever shut down, is spelled out on Your data.
